Bismarck
The capital city of North Dakota is home to museums, a historic mansion, and a zoo that boasts grizzly bears and the endangered Bengal tiger. It recently ranked as the sixth best State Capital to Live in 2019, and we think that’s pretty neat. It’s also one of the fastest-growing small cities in the United States, so we think you’d agree that they’re doing something right. The tallest building in the state, the North Dakota State Capitol, calls Bismarck home, too. The downtown streets are lined with charming shops and restaurants, and the city has several theater companies and orchestras that perform at the Belle Mehus Auditorium, a historic building that acts as the city’s center for the arts. The city is littered with parks and great trails, too, like the Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. No matter what area you decide to explore in Bismarck, you’re going to be hungry. So go ahead, check out the menu for one of these great restaurants. Who knows? Maybe you’ll discover your new favorite dish.
